We’re excited to share a summary of findings from our School-Based Behavioral Health Pilot! This project – in partnership with Michigan Department of Education (MDE), Monroe County Intermediate School District (Monroe County ISD), and mdlogix – explored how school-based behavior health providers could securely access critical health information through MiHIN’s MIGateway® tool and what impact this access could have on student care.
The pilot marked the first time such providers in Michigan could view students’ comprehensive health information via Michigan’s health information network. This pilot is just the beginning. As we look to expand, we invite other schools and ISDs to participate in shaping the future of student behavioral healthcare in Michigan.

Earlier this month at the annual Civitas Conference, Megan Gibbs, MiHIN’s Director of Customer Success, received the Emerging Leader Award!
This award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, a strong commitment to professional growth, and meaningful collaboration with colleagues and communities. Megan exemplifies these qualities every day, making a lasting impact through her dedication to MiHIN and our participants.
We’re proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition of Megan’s leadership and her ongoing work to advance interoperability and strengthen connections across the health information network.
In her recent interview with TechTarget, Dr. Isabell Pacheco, MiHIN's Incoming CEO & Executive Director, emphasized the crucial role regional health information exchanges (HIEs) play in national efforts to boost healthcare interoperability. Isabell noted that while federal initiatives such as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Health Technology Ecosystem provide a framework, lasting success depends on regional stewardship, and HIEs bring trust, governance, equity, and access to underserved communities. The conversation reinforces how MiHIN is bridging national scale and local impact to ensure healthcare data is actionable and inclusive.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month
At MiHIN, we stand with the countless individuals, families, and communities impacted by breast cancer. This month is a reminder of the importance of early detection, access to care, and continued research in the fight against breast cancer.
Together, through awareness, prevention, and innovation in health data sharing, we can improve outcomes and support those on their journey.
Let’s honor the fighters, celebrate the survivors, and remember those we’ve lost.

Data Exchange at Scale
To date, MiHIN has exchanged ~12.5 billion messages across our network—an increase of 410 million messages since Q2.
These numbers reflect the growing demand for interoperability and the continued value of MiHIN’s shared services in supporting providers, payers, and public health across Michigan.
New Data Quality Service Desk
MiHIN has launched a new Data Quality Service Desk to provide more support for participants. This new resource is designed to help address both conformance-related questions (like PFP incentive module inquiries, performance reporting, training, and mapping tables) and data quality concerns (such as system issues distorting EMR data, incorrect field values, duplicate population of fields, or outdated data sets).
If you need to access the Data Quality Service Desk, please click here.
