Spring is a season of renewal, but also of momentum. It’s the time when what has been taking shape beneath the surface begins to emerge with clarity and purpose.

Across the healthcare landscape, we are experiencing a similar shift. The conversation is no longer about whether interoperability is important; it is about how we scale it to meaningfully improve care, strengthen communities, and support those on the front lines.

At MiHIN, we are leaning into that moment with intention.

As national frameworks continue to evolve and the movement toward health data utilities accelerates, we are focused on ensuring that Michigan remains well-positioned, both as a strong partner and a leader in this space.

This quarter, we continue to strengthen the foundation on which so many rely while also advancing the next generation of solutions that will shape the future of connected care. From expanding data-sharing capabilities to supporting more coordinated, person-centered models of care, our focus remains on delivering impact where it matters most.

But what makes this work meaningful is not just the technology, it is the people behind it and the lives it touches. Every connection we enable represents an opportunity for better decisions, better care, and better outcomes. That responsibility is not lost on us.

Spring reminds us that growth requires both patience and purpose. It asks us to nurture what is working, adapt where needed, and remain open to what is possible.

I am honored to step into this role during such a pivotal time and deeply grateful for the trust and partnership of our clients, stakeholders, and team members.

Together, we are not only building a more connected healthcare system but also shaping a future where information empowers care in more meaningful and equitable ways.

With gratitude,

March 2026 Highlights

MCIR

MCIR Modernization Update

As you may be aware, the MCIR modernization initiative is focused on upgrading the platform’s technical infrastructure to improve performance, reliability, and interoperability. As part of this effort, MiHIN, MCIR, and designated testing entities are conducting targeted testing to validate updated system components, confirm secure and accurate data exchange, and assess overall system readiness. As go-live approaches, we’ll engage organizations ready for technical onboarding, followed by those who expressed interest during the freeze but did not complete pre-onboarding.

To stay up to date on the modernization update, please refer to MCIR's website: https://mcir.org/modernization/
