MiHIN Attends MI HIMSS

MiHIN at HIMSS Michigan Chapter Fall Conference: Connecting Leaders, Advancing Health Data, Shaping Michigan’s Future

MiHIN is bringing a statewide perspective to the 2026 HIMSS Michigan Chapter Fall Conference, taking place September 14–15 in Lansing.

Three MiHIN leaders will take the stage to share insights on leadership, health policy, interoperability, and the future of health data in Michigan. Dr. Isabell Pacheco, DSc, FACHE, will present Connected for Michigan: A Strategic Update on September 15, sharing MiHIN’s strategic direction around Health Data Utility, trust, statewide interoperability, and making health information more usable and actionable. On September 14, Brandi Briones, Senior Project Manager, will join Crossing the Bridge: Pathways for Emerging Leaders, while Kim Bachelder, VP State of Michigan Programs, will participate in Health Policy and Advocacy in Action, exploring the leadership, partnerships, governance, and advocacy shaping Michigan’s connected healthcare future.

The MiHIN team is also looking forward to connecting with healthcare leaders from across the state and discussing the issues shaping the future of healthcare, from interoperability and AI to cybersecurity, virtual care, and rural health. Several MiHIN team members will be attending throughout the conference so be sure to connect with the team to learn more about what’s ahead and explore opportunities to strengthen health information exchange and improve care for Michigan communities.

MOAC

Stay Connected with MiHIN’s Future

Want to know what MiHIN is working on today and where we’re headed next? Join the MiHIN Operations Advisory Council (MOAC) to stay informed, share feedback, and help shape the future of health information exchange in Michigan.

MOAC brings together eligible MiHIN participating organizations* to provide counsel and recommendations on MiHIN’s operational strategies. If your organization is interested in joining MOAC, submit a ticket through our Help Desk portal.

*eligible organizations are those who are legally connected to and actively participating in data sharing through MiHIN, excluding technology vendors

Civitas Team

Connecting Michigan to the National HIE Conversation

MiHIN is heading to the 2026 Civitas Annual Conference, where health information exchange leaders, innovators, and partners from across the country will come together to explore what’s next for HIEs and health data exchange.

We’re excited to have Jaki Porter, Chief Operating Officer; Rick McGraw, Chief Revenue Officer; and Kimberly Bachelder, VP State of MI Programs representing MiHIN and bringing perspectives that closely align with the conversations happening at Civitas: strengthening collaboration, advancing interoperability, supporting trusted data exchange, and finding new ways HIEs can create value for the communities they serve.

Attending Civitas 2026? Be sure to connect with the team!

Help Desk Update

New Request Options Available in the Help Desk Portal

We’ve added two new request types to the MiHIN Help Desk Portal to better support decommission requests.

Decommission requests are a normal part of managing health information exchange connections and may occur for a variety of reasons, including organizational acquisitions, EMR migrations, feed consolidations, or other changes to an organization’s technology environment.

  • Data Contributor Decommission for organizations requesting decommissioning of a sending connection/service.

  • Data Receiver Decommission for organizations requesting decommissioning of a receiving or querying connection/service.

When submitting a decommission request, please use the Help Desk Portal rather than sending your request via email to ensure we receive the necessary information up front to be routed appropriately.
