While Americans prepare to wave flags and attend 4th of July parades in honor of our nation’s independence, many of those who have defended our freedoms are now facing a different battle — finding access to quality healthcare.
Despite the existence of the Department of Veterans Affairs system, almost half of all U.S. veterans still face significant challenges accessing adequate healthcare. This is a frustrating, yet solvable problem according to experts at Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN), Michigan’s state-designated health information exchange that facilitates the sharing of patient health information to improve care quality, efficiency, and patient safety.
The organization was recently awarded the Michigan Veteran Service Organizations Networking Grant from the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) to assist in employing a “no wrong door” approach to ensure veterans in Michigan can easily access the benefits and services they deserve.
We’re excited to share a progress update on our Integrated Technology Platform (ITP) migration.
9,500 individual users from over 300 organizations have successfully migrated to the new platform. Additionally, another 5,000 Single Sign-On (SSO) users from nearly 20 SSO organizations have migrated.
41M Lab results from December 2024 to present have been backloaded to date and MiHIN will be adding an additional six months of Labs back to April 2024, along with continuing to backload CCDAs to October 2021 and Radiology Results to December 2024.
Chronic disease is one of the biggest challenges in healthcare today. 6 in 10 U.S. adults live with at least one chronic condition, driving nearly 90% of healthcare spending.
MiHIN helps tackle this challenge by giving care teams real-time access to the data they need to manage care, reduce readmissions, and improve outcomes.
